number of cycles per unit of time:
1 Hz = 1 cycle per second;
1 kHz = 1000 cycles per second;
1 MHz = 1 000 000 cycles per second
cut-off frequency frequency limit
frequency at which the amplitude of transmitted energy is 3 dB below that at peak frequency.
nominal frequency.
frequency of the probe as stated by the manufacturer.
test frequency.
effective ultrasonic wave frequency of a system used to test a material or component.
