Nowadays a modern military historical reconstruction is hard to reach without using computer. In a fortification reconstruction project we have to collect all data in connection with the selected object. The quantity and quality of data depends very much
on objects properties such as the building date, the range, and the geographical position and environment. Usually the specialist working in these fields have to face with large number of various quality and reliability information. The most important goal to manage this data in a uniformed manner. Using GIS can solve this problem and besides it offers more analysis and query possibilities like no other solution. In our research we tried to collect and categorize the data sources available for a WW II fortification reconstruction. The selected sample fortification is the Attila-line which defended Budapest in the WW II. This is an interesting task compared to a mediaeval fortress or castle for example because it was built only sixty years ago and it includes large area.
