In this volume of the Medical Radiology series, imaging procedures in the nuclear
medicine fi eld are presented and put in perspective. The predicted demise of nuclear medicine as a separate imaging specialty has not
come true. On the contrary, multi-modality and molecular imaging are now in vogue.
The introduction of PET/CT in the work-up of patients with cancer is a prominent
new feature of this edition. Pharmacological interventions and new radiopharmaceuticals
have broadened the number of applications and increased the accuracy of
