Edmands T.F. Standing Orders. First Corps Cadets, Massachusetts Volunteer Militia
[Boston]: Nathan Sawyer & Son, 1899. — 125 p.
This publication, for the use of members of the First Corps of Cadets, Massachusetts Volunteer Militia, contains a brief historical sketch of the Corps, its By-Laws, and a statement, partly descriptive and partly mandatory, giving information to candidates for membership and rules to members, by which their duty in the Corps is governed, supplementary to the Militia Law, Army Regulations, the Drill Regulations, and the Guard Manual. The organization arose in 1741 as Body Guard to the Governor of the Province of the Massachusetts Bay. The Corps has always been quartered in Boston. In the Civil War it furnished over a hundred volunteers to the Union armies, nearly all of whom obtained commissions. The Corps uniform regulations are included as an appendix.
